Super Save is an easy-to-use control panel which allows you to save every keystroke you make. As you type away in your favorite word processor, Super Save will be saving every key stoke you make to a save file in your System folder. This allows Super Save to be an integral part of your data protection strategy.
Instructions
Install Super Save into your Control Panels folder and restart. Super Save will create a folder in your System folder titled “Super Save ƒ.” In this folder Super Save will save the files that will contain a record of your keystrokes. Super Save creates one save file per day, and each of these files has it’s creation date appended to it’s name.
Super Save is a “fat” system extension. That is, the saving code runs native on a Power PC. Super Save displays a small red triangle in it’s start up icon if it loads a the Power PC native code.
The Super Save control panel has the following controls:
Activate Keystroke Saving: Turns Super Save on and off
Keystroke buffer size: This controls the actual size of the keystroke memory buffer used to save keystrokes. When this buffer get’s full, Super Save saves the buffer to the current save file. Higher numbers inprove System performance with less writes to the disk, but, if a System crash occurs, you may lose up to the number of keystrokes you specify here.
Days before deleting file: Super Save will manage the save files in the Super Save folder for you. Specify here the maximum number of days you want to keep a save file around. Super Save will delete a file when it becomes this old. File deletion is only done at System startup time.
Save file creator: Specifies the “creating” application for the save file. If you have an application you would like to see on this list, just send it my way and I will add it.
Activate only for selected applications: Tells Super Save to be active only when an application from a user specified application list is currently the front process. This is useful if you are only concerned about saving keystrokes when, for example, you are using word processor.
Set Applications: Set up the application list for the above option.

Shareware Information
Super Save is not free. If you decide to use Super Save, please pay the US$10.00 shareware fee. To do this, launch the Register program included in the Super Save package. It allows the shareware fee to be paid with check, money order, credit card, or cash. Please follow Register’s instructions, print out your receipt, and send your payment to the address specified in Register. You may also send the registration fee directly to me at the address listed above. If you are doing this, please note that I only accept checks cashable by U.S. banks. If you want to pay by credit card or are not in the U.S., please use the Register program.
Please supply an e-mail address when registering; this allows me to keep you notified of updates. Also, if you want to receive a “thank you” letter and invoice from me directly, please include your postal address when registering.
The Super Save package may be distributed freely as long as it is kept intact. Organizations who distribute shareware for commercial purposes (such as CD ROM archives), must make their customers fully aware that they still must register Super Save with me by paying the seperate shareware fee. These organiztions must also notify me of their inclusion of Super Save in their archives.

Future Plans
I plan to improve Super Save in the following ways:
1. Add a “on-the-fly” on/off toggle key stroke.
2. Option to have Super Save never delete the save files.
3. Add options to allow Super Save to tell the front application to save it’s documents.
4. Convert to a System 8 compatible version when System 8 is released.
If you have any other suggestions for improvements, I would love to hear them. Please e-mail them to me at the address listed about.
Release information
v1.0.0, 16 September 1995: Initital release of Super Save.
v1.0.1, 20 September 1995: Made Super Save a “fat” system extension. Added code to check to see if the save file does indeed exist before writing to it. This protects against problems if the user removes the current save file from the save folder. Changed the “Keystrokes before save” option to “Keystroke buffer size” due to user feedback (I do listen!).
